To kick off our collaboration, Tyra got together remotely with our founder Alex for a brief Q&A session. The focus of our conversation was to educate viewers on the skin benefits of Pete’s CBD and offer some at-home self-care tips and daily rituals to add to your skincare routine. Tyra (Fresh Face Skin Bar): Tell me a little bit about Pete’s and why the company was founded?

Alex (Pete’s Naturals): Pete’s CBD is a family owned wellness company that creates extraordinary self-care and relaxation products for spa and salon professionals as well as for at home use (which is now more important than ever considering that many spas are closed around the globe due to the Covid-19 virus.  

Alex (Pete’s Naturals): We’re based in Los Angeles and we could see that people all around us were stressed out and overworked. The metropolitan go go go lifestyle is fatiguing on our bodies and that ultimately that can affect the appearance of our skin. Our journey began in 2015 when we set out to create skin + body wellness products that would transform a simple skincare routine into pure pleasure. From the start, we dreamed of developing a line of skincare products that harnessed the plant-based power of Cannabidiol (CBD), an ingredient of the future. At that time it was almost impossible because legal, quality and consistently available CBD was not available on the market.

Alex (Pete’s Naturals): When we finally had the regulatory breakthrough in 2018, we were able to find a sustainable supplier of pure CBD and a laboratory that matched with our philosophy. 6- In our testing and transparency: We are rooted in a commitment to transparency. As a result, all of our products are produced with 100% USA grown hemp derived CBD, produced at a world class GMP cosmetic laboratory and double tested by an independent, third party laboratory to confirm our products meet the exact specifications that our customers expect. All our products are tested, both during production at the batch level and during filling for microbial analysis and CBD analysis to confirm they meet our standard. All of our glass bottles and jars are imported through an Italian bottle company. Next, they then go through a unique glass tinting and silk screening processes to our exact specification. We chose a deep olive green custom color to house our products because the tint has UV blocking characteristics which ensures the products remain in their original production state for extended periods and secondly, this specific color is the color of life, renewal, nature, and energy, is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and environment. Olive green evokes space, wisdom, and compassion for humanity. It is also associated with harmony, diplomacy, and self-love. Olive green represents the traditional color of peace.

We spent a significant amount of time developing our custom made box packaging design to display our products. Tyra (Fresh Face Skin Bar): Can you please tell us a little bit more about the Two- Step Skin + Body Wellness System. Not a lot of companies out there have a wellness system. What made you develop this?

Alex (Pete’s Naturals): We designed a system where both products can stand alone but for best results we recommend you use them as a system. The system truly makes us stand out from the rest. 

First, pump Pete’s CBD Relaxer massage serum into the palms of your hands then rub palms together to activate the formula. Next, press and massage serum into cleansed skin. Use daily AM & PM. Tyra (Fresh Face Skin Bar): What is CBD?

Alex (Pete’s Naturals): CBD is short for Cannabidiol, a naturally occurring compound found in Cannabis plants aka Marijuana. Pete’s CBD is derived directly from USA grown hemp plants which is a close relative of the Cannabis plant. Both plants contain CBD however the difference is that hemp plants are high in CBD and low in THC while Marijuana plants are high in THC and low in CBD compounds. CBD is non-psychoactive, while THC is psychoactive. According to the World health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence Report, “CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

Use the balm to do a mini face massage at home after you cleanse. I recommend that if your skin is on the dryer side to use the balm. The formulation of the balm is rich and melts right onto your skin but not heavy. It will provide more emollient properties to help protect and lubricate dryer skin. If your skin is on the oiler side and you still want all the great benefits, I’d go with the serum. 

Massage in upward and outward motions to help with some lymphatic drainage.
